The Green Skills Lab, developed within the framework of the European Green SCAP project (part of the Erasmus+ program and co-funded by the European Union, led by the Veneto Film Commission alongside Film Office-Central Macedonia, the Hellenic Film Commission, and the Mediterranean Creative Hub Mallorca, under the scientific supervision of European Green Film) is a specialized program that combines practical training, analysis of real-world cases, and collaborative work to offer concrete tools for sustainable production, impact measurement, managing shoots in protected environments, and new responsible work dynamics.

The initiative aims to develop “green” skills for professionals in the European audiovisual sector, connecting innovation, industry, and sustainability from a strategic and cross-cutting perspective. More than just a training program, Green Skills Lab fosters a new generation of professionals prepared to integrate sustainable criteria into all phases of audiovisual creation and production.

Sessions dedicated to the creative process that bring together screenwriters and directors to reflect on authorship, writing, and project development. Addressing the situation of screenwriters in the film industry from every possible angle and perspective.

In previous editions, we held a roundtable discussion addressing the gender gap that continues to prevail in the work of screenwriters today. From this perspective, filmmaker Alauda Ruíz de Azúa (“Cinco lobitos,” “Los domingos”), actress and screenwriter Celia de Molina (“Cuarentena,” “Invisible”), and Balearic director Marga Melià (“Cien libros juntas,” “Dona”) spoke about the prevailing imbalances in their work and how they themselves shaped their careers.

The 2025 session brought us two Goya Award winners: Eduardo Sola (winner for “Casa en flames”) and Isa Campos (winner for “Un año, una noche”). A fruitful dialogue that addressed the imbalances in the profession, but in this case economic and territorial ones: why do most screenwriters earn minimum wages and live in Madrid or Barcelona?

This year we renewed our partnership with DAMA and refocused it on one of the most essential yet often overlooked figures in our industry. A morning where words take center stage.

Meetings with key industry figures who share trends, experiences, and working models, offering an up-to-date view of the international audiovisual landscape.

Events that are open to the public. Many of our guests—established figures in the industry, admired by the public—have led masterclasses open to the public. From filmmakers Juan Antonio Bayona, Rodrigo Sorogoyen, and Stephen Frears to Oscar-winning actresses Judi Dench and Liv Ullmann. Firsthand lessons in cinema delivered by our guests.

Like the masterclasses, the talks are our space for reflection. A place where different topics are addressed, ranging from political to literary or artistic issues. In tune with the festival’s own sections—Arts, Politics, Queer, etc.—and the stories told by the films we program. We see the talks as a tool for thinking through what we love most: cinema.

And precisely to contribute their analyses and reflections, we have previously hosted political scientists like Pablo Simón, journalists like Carlos de Vega or Ana Pastor, writers like Annie Ernaux or Pol Guasch, philosophers like Slavoj Zizek, and prestigious artists like Oscar Tusquets. Illustrious names who help us understand cinema not only as an act of escapism and adventure, but also of reflection.
