Following its premiere in the Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival, El ser querido will arrive at Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest on 2 August for a special screening at La Misericòrdia, attended by much of the film’s cast and creative team.
Sorogoyen returns to the festival one year after receiving the Masters of Cinema Award, a distinction recognising a career that has established him as one of the leading voices in contemporary European cinema. He will be joined by Javier Bardem, Victoria Luengo, Raúl Arévalo, Melina Matthews and Isabel Peña to present one of the most eagerly anticipated films of this year’s edition.

The closing gala will also feature a performance by Leonor Watling, actress, singer and one of most distinctive artistic voices of recent decades. Cinema and music will come together for a special evening marking the end of ten days of screenings, conversations, encounters and shared stories.
El ser querido
Written by Isabel Peña and Rodrigo Sorogoyen, El ser querido stars Javier Bardem and Victoria Luengo. The film follows Esteban Martínez, a renowned filmmaker haunted by a past marked by violence and excess, who offers a role in his latest project to his daughter Emilia. What appears to be a professional opportunity soon becomes a reunion that reopens wounds that have never fully healed.
El ser querido, a Movistar Plus+ original production, will have its Spanish premiere at Atlàntida on August 2 before its theatrical release.
The 16th edition of Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest will take place in Palma from 24 July to 2 August and online via Filmin from 24 July to 24 August. Over the coming weeks, the festival will continue to announce new films, guests and activities as part of an edition set to once again fill Palma with cinema, music and culture.
