Errol Flynn Fronts the Image for the 16th Edition of Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest: The Spirit of an Unforgettable Summer

We finally have the poster for our 16th edition, and it’s beautiful.

To represent AMFF 2026, we found a story that captures everything this festival is about: cinema, summer and unforgettable nights.

The star of this year’s image is Errol Flynn, one of the great icons of classic Hollywood and an adventurer both on and off screen. The photograph, taken off the coast of Mallorca, comes from the archive of Fundación Casa Planas and captures one of those love stories that connect the Balearic Islands with cinema.

When Hollywood Fell for Mallorca

Flynn’s relationship with the island began almost by accident. In 1950, a storm in the Mediterranean forced him to interrupt his journey to Gibraltar and stop in Mallorca. What was meant to be a brief stopover soon turned into a love affair with the island.

For years, the star of classics such as The Adventures of Robin Hood turned Palma’s harbour into the backdrop for parties, encounters and nights that are still talked about across Mallorca today. For Flynn, the island was a free, vibrant and slightly wild place. A place where anything could happen.

And that is exactly the energy we wanted to bring back for this year’s edition of the festival.

One Summer, One Endless Party

The image for AMFF 2026 is inspired by the look and feel of 1950s and 60s adventure films: vibrant colours, raw energy and that irresistible sense of excitement that came with movies set in faraway, exotic places.

In our imagination, Mallorca becomes that fascinating territory that seduced Flynn and so many other figures from the world of cinema.

Because in the end, that is also what Atlàntida is: a festival where film, music and the city come together to create moments that could only happen here.

The Archive Behind the Story

The image is built around photographs from the archive of Fundación Casa Planas, one of the Balearic Islands’ greatest visual treasures. The collection includes more than three million images documenting the cultural and tourism history of the islands from the late 19th century onwards.

Bringing these images into the festival’s identity allows us to connect contemporary cinema with the island’s visual memory and with all the stories that have shaped its mythology.

See You This Summer

Our 16th edition will take place in Mallorca from 24 July to 2 August, before continuing online on Filmin until 24 August.

The festival of the summer is back. 🔥
