Monday the 27th, there is no better way to start the week than at Atlàntida. We are still riding the opening-night high, but the festival’s new protagonists are already arriving: David Lowery, John Wilson, La Bien Querida, Jaime Chávarri, Janay Boulos, and Abd Alkader Habak. This is definitely starting off on the right foot. Talks, music, and plenty of cinema across all our venues.
LA MISERICÒRDIA
20:30 LA BIEN QUERIDA + “MOTHER MARY”
La Bien Querida, one of the most recognizable voices in Spanish indie pop. Her ability to blend electronic sounds, melodic tradition, and emotional storytelling, combined with a sharp sense of humor, has also made her a staple on the soundtracks of series like “Élite” and “Paquita Salas.” She is the perfect artist to introduce one of Atlàntida’s standout films.
David Lowery + A24 + thriller + music by Charli XCX + performances by Anne Hathaway, Hunter Schafer, Michaela Coel, FKA Twigs.
The director of “A Ghost Story” and “Green Knight” comes to the festival to present the Spanish premiere of his latest project. With electrifying performances, this is the perfect crossover between “Showgirls,” “Euphoria,” and “All About Eve.”
A pop star reunites with her best friend on the eve of the concert meant to mark her return to the stage. And yes, it does not go well.
ES BALUARD MUSEU
11:00 TALK JOHN WILSON
One of our most beloved directors arrives in Mallorca. John Wilson, creator of the cult series “How To With John Wilson,” will unpack the ins and outs of his unique filmmaking approach in this talk. A heads-up, though fans hardly need one, it will be full of comedy. And if you have not yet seen his new film, “John Wilson, La Historia del Hormigón,” you can catch it that same evening at CineCiutat.
12:00 EN RECUERDO A JOHN BERGER + GUIA PARANORMAL DE LA COSTA BRAVA
We open this session with a small surprise: the world premiere of a short film by Isabel Coixet. A piece that also works as a love letter and tribute to a late friend, John Berger, one of the great intellectuals and art critics, who taught us where and how to look through his series and book “Ways of Seeing.”
Next, we screen the documentary “Guia Paranormal de la Costa Brava,” a supernatural and eerie tourist guide to the Catalan coast. And who better to lead this journey than Mariana Enriquez, author of “Nuestra Parte de Noche.” The session will include a discussion with the writer and the film’s director, Ferran Romeu.

17:00 LES CULPABLES
One of those films to heal wounds with your friends.
A former project from the Atlàntida Mallorca Talents Lab, presented by its producer Montse Pujol (“Autodefensa”). After years of work, we can finally see this luminous and restorative documentary.
Marta, the film’s director, receives a hundred anonymous testimonies from women who went through the same experience she did: a teenage abortion. She decides to bring these silenced stories to the screen.
19:00 BARRIO TRISTE
Directed by Bad Bunny’s music video director, produced by Harmony Korine, with music by Arca.
“Barrio Triste” is undoubtedly the new revolution in recent auteur cinema. Backed by the director of “Gummo” and “Spring Breakers,” it revives the energy of the most avant-garde American films of the 1990s and 2000s, now from Medellín.
A group of young people from Medellín’s outskirts steal a camera from local television and set out across the city. Between endless walks, a bank robbery, and a strange paranormal encounter, their drift becomes increasingly unsettling.

21:00 PARADISE
For those who enjoy parallel stories and believe that villains are not entirely villains.
The anticipated debut of Jérémy Comte, after winning the Palme d’Or for his latest short film, is an intelligent story spanning two countries separated by oceans and two protagonists who are not so different.
Two young men, one in Ghana and the other in Quebec, try to uncover the secrets of their parents: one within a street gang seeking answers about his father’s death, the other investigating his mother’s relationship with a mysterious sailor.
SALA RÍVOLI
17:00 BIRDS OF WAR
A documentary about a love story that has endured and withstood wars and storms.
A screening that will be historic due to the presence of its directors, who are also its protagonists. It is on its way to the Oscars.
A Lebanese journalist based in London contacts a Syrian activist. What begins as a professional connection turns into a love story spanning more than a decade.
19:00 EL DESENCANTO
Possibly the greatest documentary ever made in Spain, part of both film history and our country’s history.
There is little more to say about “El Desencanto”: if you have not seen it, come; if you have, we are presenting it restored in 4K and with the presence of its director, Jaime Chávarri.
The Panero family were to literature what the Flores family were to music: illustrious and celebrated, yet chaotic and self-destructive. A nest of rivalries, envy, and reckonings among the three siblings and their mother. Illness, literature, high-voltage arguments, and the most harrowing portrait ever made of the late Franco era.
21:00 EIXAM
S
For you if you liked “As Bestas” and believe every utopia ends badly.
The first fiction feature by Óscar Bernàcer, director of the acclaimed series “Una vida bárbara.”
Lluc arrives, fleeing, to a village that functions as a utopia. Isolated, all the neighbors take care of one another. But what seems idyllic has a dangerous underside.
CINECIUTAT
17:00 PAISAJE EN LA NIEBLA
One of the most beautiful films ever made, featuring one of the most memorable images in Greek cinema.
We continue our Theo Angelopoulos cycle. Martin Scorsese has cited it as one of his major influences and considers Angelopoulos a great master of cinema.
Two children, five years old, learn from their mother that their father lives in Germany. The next day, they run away to find him. But no journey is easy when you are five and traveling alone.
19:00 ÉREM UNA GRAN FAMILIA
With the presence of its director, Cristina Roselló. The film is built from the largest home-video archive recorded by a woman during the Franco era. All the material was donated and restored at the Filmoteca de Catalunya.
A family films their life between 1949 and 1999 and, without realizing it, creates the finest Spanish chronicle of the twentieth century. Three decades later, all that footage comes to light.

21:00 JOHN WILSON, LA HISTORIA DEL HORMIGÓN
If you know John Wilson, you already know what to expect. If not, even better: you are about to discover a director capable of making you cry with laughter through a documentary about concrete. John Wilson will also be present to answer your questions.
After attending a screenwriting workshop for daytime TV films, a filmmaker tries to apply this predictable formula to pitch his producers a documentary about… concrete. This leads him on an incredible journey across the most unexpected corners of the United States, where we uncover the fascinating secrets of the world’s most widely used material.
