The nightmare continues. The extended version of Backrooms arrives in the Balearic Islands for the first time with a new fragment of its infinite universe.
There’s a door in the basement of a furniture showroom. Endless corridors. Yellow carpet. Buzzing fluorescent lights. Rooms that seem to repeat themselves forever. Places you know you shouldn’t enter, yet you do anyway.
Welcome to the Backrooms.
If you left the cinema feeling there was still something waiting to be discovered, we have good news. On August 1 at 10 pm, Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest will host the Balearic premiere of Backrooms: Liquidación total, the new extended version of Kane Parsons’ breakout phenomenon, screening in the TRENDS section at La Misericòrdia.
This is far more than a re-release. The extended version features 16 minutes of brand-new footage, created by Parsons himself and produced exclusively for theatrical screenings. Rather than deleted scenes, it expands the film’s unsettling universe, taking audiences even deeper into one of the most unexpected cinematic phenomena of recent years.
At just 21 years old, Kane Parsons has gone from making videos on YouTube to directing one of the most talked-about horror films of the moment. Backrooms has become an international sensation and one of the year’s biggest box office surprises.
In Spain, the numbers speak for themselves. As of July 7, the film has attracted 938,000 admissions, spending five consecutive weeks in the country’s box office Top 5. It is the most-watched horror film of the year, the sixth biggest genre opening since 2020, the sixth independent film in the last decade to reach No. 1 at the Spanish box office, and is already among the 15 most-watched films of 2026.
Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest now offers audiences a unique chance to experience this new cut on the big screen. A version that deepens the mystery, fuels new theories and proves there are still unexplored corners hidden within the Backrooms.
