Lil is a boy living in a working-class neighbourhood who uses his imagination to escape reality. Fascinated by mythology, he sees his family as gods and heroes. Like a modern-day Ulysses, he must deal with the return of his father after years in prison. This coincides with the appearance of childhood ghosts that begin to populate his walks through the neighbourhood.

Set in a historically African American area of Los Angeles, Thompson-Hernandez pays tribute to her community, reminding us that Black culture and Black lives matter.
